Honeylocust - Thornless

The Thornless Honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos) is a rare, fine-leafed shade tree that brings a subtle tropical vibe to prairie yards.
The honeylocust is used extensively by the City of Edmonton, it thrives where water is available and grows quickly into a stunning, airy canopy. Its delicate leaves are unlike anything else on the prairies—casting light shade and staying incredibly clean in the fall.
If you want a standout tree that feels different (in the best way) and has your neighbours asking, “What is that?”—this is it.

Growing Requirements in Alberta: This honeylocust is one of the easiest trees to grow in Alberta and it will not require any special care. Water well during the first couple summers and fertilize when looking for extra growth. The tree is happy with all types of soils and can handle sun or part shade.
